  3. BACKGROUND- The project was formed in 2004 with 21 beneficiaries - The size of the farm is 21,772 hectars - The project was obtained through the LRAD programme- The project is found in the Frances Baardt district under Phokwane Municipality- The project falls under Vaalharts irrigation scheme

FUNDING • The project received funding from CASP for infrastracture development, the funding was done in two phases. • Phase one was done in the finacial year 2006-2007 for the building of dam, centre pivot and some implements for the tune of 1,4 million rand. • Phase two was done in finacial year 2008-2009 for the purchasing of implements for the tune of 1,5 million rand. • In 2007 the project also received funding from Ilima/ Letsema which was launched on the farm by the former minister of agriculture Mrs. Lulu Xingwane, and the funding was at the tune of R170.000.00 for production input. • In 2012 the project also received implements from the national implements scheme where every farmer in the province benefited.

  5. TYPE OF FARMING • The type of farming practiced on the farm is crops namely maize, barley, wheat and lucerne. • On the farm there is also cattle and sheep which have been added on the farm since 2012. MARKETING • We sell our products to local major co- operatives – for instance, maize, barley and wheat is sold to SENWES at safex price • For lucerne : we sell it to cattle farmers in our area and the rest to local co-operatives.

  6. AFILLIATION • We are afilliated to both AFASA and Grain South Africa which we learn a lot from. CONCLUSION • Our farm started from nothing 10 years ago and today we are walking tall and all thanks are given to the Department of Agriculture, Forestly and Fishery
