Responsibilities & Expectations • Oversee website evaluators assigned to your regional event • Train website evaluators in the use of firstawards.org • Ensure website evaluators are aware of their responsibilities and deadlines • Monitor progress of website evaluators • Contact inactive website evaluators to encourage participation • Evaluate websites • Complete Post Event Survey FIRST Training Resource – Volunteers

Schedule • February 14th: Deadline for teams to submit websites for evaluation • Notify evaluators they may begin evaluating • Monitor progress of your evaluators • Evaluation Deadlines: • Week 1 regionals: February 25th • Week 2 regionals: March 3rd • Week 3 regionals: March 10th • Week 4 regionals: March 17th • Week 5 regionals: March 24th • Week 6 regionals: March 31st FIRST Training Resource – Volunteers

  5. Evaluation Process • Go to www.firstawards.org • Choose login in the upper right of the screen FIRST Training Resource – Volunteers

Evaluation Process (cont’d) • Log in using your email address and password provided by FIRST • Click on Website Award • You will see your regional event and the number of teams who have submitted for it • Click on List to view the list of teams • Click on any URL for any team to bring up their website in a new window • Navigate through their website FIRST Training Resource – Volunteers

Evaluation Process (cont’d) • Return to the firstawards.org page • Click on Evaluate when you are ready to enter scores for that team • Enter your evaluation and comments • Click Save • The system will automatically tally your score and enter it into the system • Remember, evaluation may occur anytime between Feb 14th and the Monday night deadline for your regional FIRST Training Resource – Volunteers

Evaluation Process (cont’d) • If you have an association with a team, please abstain from evaluating that team • You are not required to evaluate all websites in a single sitting • You do need to complete the entire score sheet for any given team, including comments, in one sitting • You will not see the scores from the other evaluators FIRST Training Resource – Volunteers

  9. Evaluation Process (cont’d) You will not see: • How other people have scored a site. • The total of scores for each site. • All of the tallied scores for your regional. FIRST Training Resource – Volunteers

Advising Your Website Evaluators • Find out who they are • Log in to firstawards.org and click on Website Award Evaluators Lists • Train them • Review their responsibilities • Provide them with a copy of the Website Evaluator Step-by-step (located at http://first.wpi.edu/websiteevaluator.html) • Ensure they are aware of the deadline for your particular regional event FIRST Training Resource – Volunteers

Advising Your Website Evaluators • Monitor their progress • Log in to firstawards.org and click on Website Award • Click on the last column to see which evaluators have completed scores for each website • Encourage participation • Contact inactive website evaluators and remind them of approaching deadlines and their commitment • If they do not respond, contact your Volunteer Coordinator to obtain phone numbers or additional means of contact FIRST Training Resource – Volunteers

Lead Volunteer Communication With your team of volunteers: • As a Lead Volunteer you are a LEADER. • Lead Volunteers must communicate with the Volunteer Coordinator(s) to getnames and begin communicating with their team as soon as possible via e mail etc. • As a team leader, you must communicate with your volunteers to create a sense of a team and teamwork. • By doing so, questions can be answered in advance, comfort levels increased, and miscellaneous information gotten out of the way.   15. Critical Review • Verify your Website Evaluators are reviewing websites. • If an Evaluator is not doing their job, contact the Volunteer Coordinator for your regional immediately. • All reviews must be completed by the Monday the week of your regional! FIRST Training Resource – Volunteers
