  3. Why Use Alternative Fuel Vehicles (AFV’s)? Urban Air Pollution Vehicular emissions are a major source of air pollutants, including: • nitrous oxides (NOx) • hydrocarbons (VOCs) • particulate matter (Pm) • carbon monoxide (CO) • sulfur dioxide (SO2)
