    1. Josiah “He did what was right” Kings 21:19 – 23:25

    2. Josiah’s story Grandfather was Manasseh, a wicked king Father was Amon, a wicked king At age 8, Josiah became king At age 16, he began to seek the Lord (2Chron 34:3) From age 20 - 26 destroyed idols (2Chron 34:3-8) At age 26, ordered Temple repaired (2Kgs 22:3-7) Book of the Law found and read (2Kgs 22:8-11) The LORD consulted (2Kgs 22:12-20) Law read and applied to people (2Kgs 23:1-23) At age 39, killed in battle

    3. A lasting tribute to Josiah “And before him there was no king like him who turned to the LORD with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; nor did any like him arise after him.” 2 Kings 23:25

    4. Practical Lessons from Josiah “Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth” (Eccl 12:1) Had Josiah waited until he was older, he probably never would have served God He died at 39 He served God as soon as he was able Learned what God wanted Knew what God expected of him Ready to make the commitment

    5. Practical Lessons from Josiah Having God’s word nearby does not mean it is doing any good The Law was in Jerusalem near the palace, in the Temple, but no one followed it Today, millions of Bibles around But most are neglected, though nearby Many are ignored if not neglected Many are not fully applied if not ignored

    6. Practical Lessons from Josiah When he found the Law he shared it with ALL Not stingy with God’s law We too need to share the good news Not enough to say, “Here’s a Bible, read it.”

    7. Practical Lessons from Josiah He gave himself completely to God He started young He studied the word He applied the word He told others

    8. Conclusion How does your life compare to Josiah’s? Do you desire to seek the Lord? Are you willing to obey Him completely?
