  4. Volunteer Training • Lay out Expectations • Provide volunteers with a job description • Make it manageable!

  5. Where to Look….. • Partner with local schools and churches who have community service requirements • Ask a specific person rather than a group • Ask people who originally said no- What’s more flattering? One ask or two?

  6. Sing Their Praises • Make a plan to highlight volunteers on a regular basis • Everyone likes free stuff! • Make everyone a cool kid

  7. The 5th Quarter • Communicate regularly • Move them through the ranks • Engage them in succession planning

  8. Be the Face • You can’t light a fire with a wet match! • Remember why your team/program is important • Take time to stoke your own fire
