  3. OBJECTIVES Goals of the Training • The learner will be able to download Camtasia Studio. • The learner will be able to locate the basic tools in Camtasia Studio. • The learner will be able to record a video with the use of Camtasia Studio. • The learner will be able to edit a video created in Camtasia Studio. • The learner will Produce a video created in Camtasia Studio.

  4. Downloading Camtasia Studio • To begin the course, you will need to download Camtasia studio. Click hereto begin with a 30 day free trial of Camtasia Studio. • Click on either the Windows download or the Mac download depending on the computer you will be using the program on. • Follow the directions on the screen to complete the download.

  5. Locating the Basic Tools • Now that you have downloaded Camtasia Studio, click on and watch the video below to become familiar with how to use the basic tools in the program.

  6. Recording a Video • To record a screen on the computer, press the record a screen button within the top left corner of the program. After you do this, the tool bar will appear on your screen. • To begin recording, choose the size of the screen you would like to record. You can choose whether you would like the full screen or just part of the screen recorded. You can also choose custom. • If choosing custom, you should drag the corners of the recording area to the size you desire to record

  7. Recording a Video • Once you have finished recording, click the stop button on the tool bar. • Subsequent to clicking the stop button, your recording will begin to preview what you recorded. You will have the option of recording or deleting the recording. If you like how it turned out, click save and edit in the tool bar at the bottom of the screen. • After saving the recording, a box will pop up to change the size. It is recommended that you just keep it the size that shows up as the default until you become more familiar with the program. The video you created will now appear in your clip bin within the program. You can create other videos also and combine them into one larger video if you so desire.

  8. Editing a Video • Editing a video is the fun part. You can remove all your mistakes, add in transitions and start to create your final project. Click on the video below to learn to edit and put together multiple videos.

  9. Producing a Video • Once you have clicked produce and share, and have followed the steps in the basic producing video, the video will begin to render. Once this renders to 100%, your video is ready to share. Click on the video below to learn to produce your video.

  10. Modeling • Now lets create a video. Click on the video below to see how I created a video from start to finish to help you with your final project for this course.

  11. Example of a Final Project • You may now click on the video below preview my final project as an example

  12. YOUR CHALLENGE • Create and produce a video, that relates to your position at your school, on how to use a specific tool, program or website on the computer (examples: finding and using the calculator, using the Paint program, using Microsoft Excel or using Microsoft PowerPoint or how to use a website such as Google Earth). This video will be submitted and evaluated. • Review the objectives of the workshop to verify understanding.

  13. Closure • You have now learned how to use that perfect screen capturing program to enhance your classroom or to create reference videos for your students. You now understand how to use specific software to create and delivers quality video tutorials. This course covered recording, editing, and producing a video with Camtasia studio. Enjoy creating those special videos for your special students to make your classroom come alive.
