Needs Assessment • Sent survey and received replies from 1st – 5th grade teachers • Teacher anticipated connecting to network, 32% more often with a wireless network • Teachers anticipated using wireless network 67% more often for the instruction of students • Research shows Web 2.0 applications and digital techniques provide students with the most impact to meet instructional needs

  3. Hardware/Software • MX-2800 Wireless Network Controller • MP Wireless Network Access Point Antenna • Dell Wireless 5730 Mobile Broadband Card • CAT-5 Network Cable • RJ-45 Modular Plugs • Cisco 2821 Integrated Service Router

Professional Development • Start a continuing Staff Development plan • First Year • Teachers and administration collaborate and develop ideas based on measureable technology standards to increase student learning • Develop lessons in all subjects that use digital technology • Implement and test the ideas created during collaboration • Evaluate the progress and changes to student outcome several times during the year, compared to not using the wireless network.   5. Professional Development • In future years • Provide a mentor for newly hired teachers. • A small team will discover new trends in digital technology for educational applications. New Web 2.0 applications, hardware/software, etc. • Report findings to determine feasibility. • New technology may not have much • Small test may want to be run for evaluation

  6. Evaluation Strategies • Provide additional survey over time • Compare network usage before and after wireless • Compare student grades before and after wireless • With a wireless network it is easier to reach any location in the class. • With digital technology, there is a multitude of Web 2.0 applications available to use for students to demonstrate their subject knowledge considering different learning styles
