Current Status • Objective: • provision of a web based portal to access services and data established in ESA’s SW Pilot project • Portal operational since January 2005 • Current tasks involve: • General software & hardware maintenance tasks • Development of new features • Addition of new data sources and SDAs 23rd SWWT SWENET Status Report

SWENET Statistics • Users: 252 (~35 additional users since November) • Sources: 7 external dataproviders (e.g. SEC) + 13 SDAs • Database Tables: 215 (207) • Datasets: 118.491.806 ~100 million (112.125.218) • DB Volume: 39 GB (27GB) • SWENET start pageaccesses since Januar 2007 : 59.737 23rd SWWT SWENET Status Report

Upcoming tasks • Finalise implementation of Index Quality Statistics • implementation of quality statistic plots for index forecast, comparing calculated values with measured ones. • Validate the quality of forecasts and predictions of different quantities • Scatter Plot • Linear Regression • Correlation Coefficient • Coefficient of Determination 23rd SWWT SWENET Status Report

Latest changes •  Improved image browsing included Animated GIF generation • browsing interface (to search through stored images such as e.g. TEC Maps • Select start date and end date from available images to compare 2 images or to generate an animation • Improved web service allows platform independent, automated access to space weather data. • Applications (both web and desktop) can access the data stored in the SWENET space weather database. 23rd SWWT SWENET Status Report

Latest changes II • New "Latest Alerts" page • display alerts on Ap, Dst, Particle Flux >10 Mev, Kp and X-Ray Flux • Latest Indices page showing relevant space weather indices has been improved. • Various changes to the the web interface to improve the "user friendliness“ • The start page provides additional information on SWENET and the Pilot Project. • The Data Access Interface simplified to combine data, plotting and image search functions, • A quick-search text field incorporated in the right sidebar 23rd SWWT SWENET Status Report

Upcoming tasks (cont) • Addition of new data from SDAs and other external resources • Daily TEC plots from SPECTRE implemented. • TEC maps over Europe as movies covering a whole day • Various SDAs have been discussed for data integration: • SWACI (additional ionospheric data) • SIDC (Solar data from reports) • SEIS/SEISOP (operational data) • SAAPS (Predicted Dst, Kp, Dst)) • GIC Now! (public part) • Some additional data sources identified to be incorporated into SWENET are: • Radiation monitor data (SREM) • SEM data from METOP • Update of the content of the ESA space weather information pages 23rd SWWT SWENET Status Report
