  1. SCS 3010 – Sheet Collating System 3010 Semi-automatic positioning and fixing system for plastic sheets

  2. SCS 3010 – General description The SCS 3010 is a semi-automatic system for positioning and fixing of all types of plastic foils which are commonly used in the card production. Accurate and reliable fixing is a basic requirement to assure that the individual foils maintain their precise position to one another during the lamination process and that the cards punched out of the laminated sheets fulfil stringent quality requirements, not only in functionality but also in terms of visual appearance. SCS 3010 does more than meet the high demands of progressive card manufacturing, setting new standards for precision, flexibility, quality and economics. The reengineered SCS 3010 stands out with new features and improvements, such as: • Easy and very accurate manual positioning of the single foils, supported by a high resolution video system • Able to make compositions to any sheet configuration in one process step, even with using foils made of different thermoplastic materials • Production of all standard sheet formats and mixed sheet formats, as well as customer-specific sheet formats upon request

  3. SCS 3010 – Application for high security and high quality cards and passport ID card Bank card Driver license Contactless card Passport

  4. SCS 3010 – Functional description • The base foil is put about three boundary blocks. • With help of the labels at the markings (cross) the following foils are aligned with the basic foil. • Sealing of each single foil with the foils underneath. • Each layer is aligned for perfect quality. Print image and layer are aligned 100% one upon the other.

  5. The SCS 3010 can be constructed of the following modules: Adjustment of layers to ensure exact alignment of printing Aligning Video system to verify accuracy of position of layers. Verification Welding Perfected foil fixing due to improved welding system. Device for punching precise register holes at the edges of the fixed sheets. Position and size of holes after clarification of the specifications. Punching

  6. SCS 3010 - a modular system structured to your needs from basic to high end

  7. SCS 3010 – The modules – Aligning The overlay is placed into position with the help of the positioning pins and then fixed with a vacuum. Positioning pins enable the operator to place the foils onto the working surface so that the passer marks are immediately shown on the monitor and the end positioning is quick and simple. Limit stops are also necessary for correctly positioning transparent or blank foils without passer marks.

  8. SCS 3010 – The modules – Verification The core of the SCS 3010 is a high-resolution video positioning system. It enables the operator to quickly and very precisely position the foils on the working surface. The video positioning system comprises of following main components: • 2 video cameras (standard) and up to 4 video cameras for special applications • Halogen cold light source with illumination in transmission mode. This assures optimum recognition of the passer marks, especially for the first foil (first foil is normally placed upside down) • Monitor for simultaneously displaying the reference crosshairs for each camera and the images of the passer marks printed on the foils. The reference crosshairs lines define the exact position of the individual foils on the working surface The display of the camera viewing range, showing the alignment marks or material edges enable optimum recognition and positioning of each individual sheet placed onto the working surface.

  9. SCS 3010 – The modules – Welding Depending on the produced sheet composition the operator program defined parameter sets for multi-layer sheet compositions. Special requirements can of course also be implemented. After placing the first two foils into the correct position, the fixing process, can be triggered. In order to prevent the finished sheet from lamination shifts, the welding spots are staggered after every added foil. A display at the welding stations shows the operator at a glace either the present or actual welding temperatures of the welding bits, whichever is selected for the desired process control. Depending on the SCS 3010 configuration, the system can be equipped with up to four independently controlled welding bits (standard is two). This for instance enables combinations of one 48-cards sheets and two single, superimposed 24-card sheets to be used.

  10. SCS 3010 – The modules – Storage table The SCS 3010 is an ergonomically designed working station. The entire handling, from taking out the individual foils of the discharge device, processing and placing the fixed sheets onto the storage area, can be done comfortable from a sitting position. During production, the operator only has to trigger the particular program step by actuating a foot or a hand switch. All functions are controlled and monitored by the workstation.

  11. SCS 3010 – The modules – Punching The position and size of the register holes punched in the completed sheets are customized to conform to customer specifications. To keep the overall height low, the punch is driven from below and punches upwards. The accumulated punchings are suctioned off by a vacuum cleaner. The vacuum cleaner is switched on only for a certain length of time during each punching stroke. This helps keep the noise level at the workstation as low as possible.
