Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 Written Fire Risk Assessment Premise Fire Safety Manual (Log Book) Fire procedures (inc. evacuation) Records of staff training Records of fire drills Records of tests (fire alarms & fire equipment etc.) Detail of the fire alarm system Plan of the building

  4. FIRE ROUTINE PROCEDURES You need to know:- What to do if you see a fire, and What to do when you hear the fire alarm

  5. If YOU discover a fire Raise the alarm- operate nearest fire alarm call point Dial Emergency Number - (if applicable) or Call 999 Attack the fire if possible- using available fire fighting equipment and without putting yourself at risk Leave via the nearest exit Go to the Assembly Point – Roll Call

  6. If YOU Hear the Fire Alarm Leave via the nearest exit Go to the Assembly Point – Roll Call Do not re-enter the building until told to do so Don’t forget to Close Doors and Windows!! Do NOT use lifts. Turn off electrical and cooking appliances

  7. EVACUATION? KNOW your FIRE Strategy - Simultaneous or Two-stage Continuous Alarms Intermittent Alarms Voice Actuated Alarms Progressive Horizontal Evacuation Role of Fire Wardens/Marshalls Role of Fire Teams

  8. and REMEMBER! Assist people with a Disability (PEEPS) Move in a calm and orderly manner Do not run & REPORT the Incident (DATIX)

  9. FIRES, FALSE ALARMS&FAULTS Main Causes of Fires SMOKING COOKING ELECTRICAL ARSON False Alarms(Unwanted Fire Signals to Fire & Rescue Service) Faults– report all system problems
