Analysis Template • The purposes of these exercises are at least threefold: • To gain proficiency in identifying language devices, aka rhetorical devices, aka rhetorical strategies in texts, along with determining purpose and impact in their use. • To gain awareness of the same so as to incorporate these devices into our own writing. • To practice for the rhetorical strategies essay in the AP test. • You’re aiming for at least 160 words for each example analyzed. • This is an exercise in analysis, which means the breakdown of something that is complex into smaller parts in such a way that leads to a better understandingof the whole.
