  1. Key Vocabulary There are some words that are used frequently in our sentences. It is helpful to know how to read and spell these words.

  2. Tricky Words • Some common words are tricky to spell. • Quite often only PART of the word gives us problems. For example: PEOPLE • Can you think which parts of this spelling are easy or tricky?

  3. What did you think? • In the word people we have some letters that we don’t hear when we say the word. • This can sometimes make words tricky. people Not heard Try saying these unstressed words as you say the word.

  4. Now try this… • Can you spot the tricky parts of the following words. • On a white board write out the words underlining the tricky parts. halfwhenmany
