  9. The Rules Irregular verbs (Group III) No tricks for this one. Just memorize them!! They are: する to do(します) くる to come(きます)

  10. Formal form  Plain Form Irregular Verbs – Just memorize します する きます  くる

  11. Vowel/ Regular (-ru ending verbs: Group II) Two types: -iru , -eru For both of these, remove the る ending, and add the suffix. -た -ない -なかった e.g. taberu  tabeta okiru  okita

  12. Consonant/Semi-regular (-u ending verbs: Group I)Four groups:

  13. The Exceptions to the Rules  あります/ある Present Form: nai – ない(not anai) Past form: nakatta –なかった 行(い)きます/行(い)く Past Form: itta –いった (not iita)

  14. た form song (To the tune of “Oh, Christmas Tree”) Oh, ぬ、む、ぶ Oh, ぬ、む、ぶ ぬ、む、ぶ to んだ! Oh, う、つ、る Oh, う、つ、る う、つ、る to った く to いた ぐ to いだ すto した きた、した Oh, ぬ、む、ぶ Oh, ぬ、む、ぶ Now we know our た form!

  16. Plain form of い- adjectives Basically you will be deleting the です. Remember that ~くありません/~くありませんでした are formal forms. All of the informal are listed below.

  17. Plain form of copula verb (です) This is not covered in your book so listen up. The informal form of です for present and past are the following: Remember that the ~じゃありません~じゃありませんでした are formal forms.

  18. Plain form ofな-adjectives Remember this is the same as the copula. Also the ~じゃありません~じゃありませんでした are formal forms.

  19. て-form and ください Remember in the last chapter we spent a lot of time learning how to conjugate plain verbs into the past tense. In particular, the distinction between う and る verbs? Well that will now pay off!!!! To make theて-form, you will change the た/だ toて/で, as in: たべた たべて のんだ のんで

  20. What about the negative? This is simple too. Take the casual negative present tense form and add で たべない  たべないで のまない  のまないで
