  1. Long Ago, Yesterday, & Today Laundry Day Chug, chug, chug. Swish, swish, swish. One of my most vivid childhood memories is of waking up on Saturday mornings at my grandmother’s house to the smells and sounds of her doing the laundry. The kitchen was turned into a laundry room with the presence of a wringer-washer and large rinse tubs. I could help sort clothes, and hang the rinsed items on the clothesline. What I loved the most was finally getting to put clothes through the wringer! My mom told me stories about helping her mother do the laundry when she was little. Grandma did the wash outside in a tub. Sometimes she would have my mom use a washboard to help her scrub them. Do you ever help with laundry? Times have really changed and so has laundry day! I wonder what laundry day will be like in 100 years?

  2. Long Ago, Yesterday, & Today Compare laundry day for three generations. Long Ago When my mother was a young girl, this is how her mother did the laundry. Yesterday When I was a young girl, this is how my family did the laundry. Today This is how I do the laundry now.

  8. Long Ago, Yesterday, & Today How and why do things change or remain the same? What are some things that have changed that you are interested in investigating?

  9. Long Ago, Yesterday, & Today Today you will work with a group to investigate how something has changed over the years. This information will help you to create a PowerPoint presentation tomorrow. • Read about your topic on PebbleGo and take notes using your graphic organizer. • Decide which time periods each person will work on. • Use your notes to decide on text for each slide in your PPT. • Conduct a search for pictures to use in the PowerPoint presentation that illustrate your text. Save them to your student work folder.
