Nehemiah’s Waterfall Model MISSION ENVIRONMENT Restore Jerusalem for the glory of God • Enemy opposition (Ch 2-4) • Jerusalem in ruins (Ch 2) STRATEGY VISION • Seek God’s will (Ch 1) • Get the king’s approval and support (Ch 2) • Assess the situation (Ch 2) • Get the support of the leaders (Ch 2) • Organize the people to work (Ch 3) • Keep the people motivated (Ch 4) Rebuild the wall and gates TACTICS • Pray and fast (1:4) • Look sad in king’s presence (2:1) • Ask for specific resources (2:4-9) • Inspect the walls (2:13-15) • Meet with leaders (2:17-18) • Assign work according to self-interest (Ch 3) • Pray to God whenever opposed (Ch 4) • Assign some to defend while others work (4:13-18) VALUES The wall was rebuilt in 52 days (6:15) • Humility (1:6-7) • Faith (1:8-9) • Courage • Empowerment OUTCOMES
