  4. Student Email Accounts • Important email will be sent via mass email to students’ “@mtmail.mtsu.edu” email accounts. • Effective immediately, each student is responsible for ensuring that his or her “@mtmail.mtsu.edu” account functions properly.

Required Course Materials • Introduction to Corporate Finance, 2nd Edition (Abridged Edition) by Megginson and Smart • Aplia (www.aplia.com) • These are sold as a bundle at the campus bookstore for $115. The new hardback textbook costs $140 or more. Aplia for Megginson and Smart’s textbook costs $90.

  12. Exams 1-3 • Multiple Choice Questions and Problems • Time Pressure to Simulate Departmental Final • Students need to bring 3 Scantron forms no later than February 3, 2010. • No make-up exams given. If a students misses Exams 1, 2, and/or 3 for any reason, the grades on the Departmental Final will replace the missed score(s).

  13. Departmental Final • The Final Exam is departmental and comprehensive and will be administered on Friday, April 29, 2011, from 6:00 – 8:00pm. • Details pertaining to the Final Exam will be circulated at a later date. • Please arrange your work schedule or other commitments to be available then (there will be no make-ups). • You must score at least 45% correct on this exam in order to pass FIN 3010, regardless of your other work in the course. This is a departmental requirement; there will be no exceptions. • The Final Exam will count as 25% of your course average.

  14. Wildcard • The 10% Wildcard will be applied to your highest exam score (i.e., the highest score attained from Exam 1, Exam 2, Exam 3, and the Final Exam).

  15. Wildcard: Example 1 • A student scores 70% on Exam 1, 75% on Exam 2, 80% on Exam 3, and 75% on the Departmental Final. • For this student: Exams 1 and 2 count 15% each. The Departmental Final counts 25%. Exam 3 – the highest exam score – counts 25% (= 15% + 10%).

  16. Wildcard: Example 2 • A student scores 70% on Exam 1, 65% on Exam 2, 80% on Exam 3, and 85% on the Departmental Final. • For this student: Exams 1, 2, and 3 count 15% each. The Departmental Final – the highest exam score – counts 35%. (= 25% + 10%).

  17. Accommodations • If you have a disability that may require assistance or accommodations, or if you have any questions related to any accommodation for testing, note taking, reading, etc., please speak with me as soon as possible. You may also contact the Office of Disabled Student Services (898-2783) with any questions about such services. • No accommodation will be given without proper documentation from the Office of Disabled Student Services.

  18. Recording of Lectures • Lecture material is the intellectual property of the instructor, the textbook authors, or other sources. • Recording of lectures through audio or video methods is expressly prohibited. Violation of this prohibition is considered academic misconduct.

  19. Classroom Etiquette • Turn cell phones, etc., OFF and put them AWAY at the beginning of class. • All students are expected to maintain an environment that is respectful of the instructor and other students’ right to learn. • Students should plan to be on time for class. After a 5 minute grace period, classroom doors will be closed and locked for the duration of the class meeting. • It should go without saying that actions such as answering mobile phones in class is unacceptable behavior.

  20. Miscellaneous • Exam Day Amnesia • The instructor does not answer questions regarding exam content on exam days. Please make plans to secure assistance accordingly. • The instructor does not post grades, email grades, mail grades, or disseminate grades via telephone. • I will not discuss an enrolled student’s FIN 3010 course grade or his or her performance in FIN 3010 with anyone other than the student himself or herself. • If class is cancelled, the cancellation will be noted on the tentative course schedule (syllabus) or via email.

  21. Miscellaneous, Continued • Once the FIN 3010 Final Exam has been administered, I will complete my calculation of course grades as swiftly as possible; subsequently, I will enter your final course grades into RaiderNet, where they will be available to you. • It is not helpful for you to stop by my office, call my office, email me or otherwise question me concerning your grade in the period between the end of the FIN 3010 Final Exam and the grade entry into RaiderNet. • As a measure to dissuade such behavior, I will deduct 1 point (1%) from your final course average for each instance in which you contact me regarding your FIN 3010 grade during that period. • Example: 89.5% average + 1 phone call during the grading period = 88.5% average
