Timeline Highlights 2010-present • Implementation of High School Retreat • Beginnings of physical plant face lift. • Increase in test scores • Improved school climate • Optimism • Strong teaching staff • Resurrection of the Alumni • “Knock your socks off,” musical performances • Beginnings of a purposeful international student program.

  6. Mission & Purpose • MISSION • San Fernando Valley Academy provides a Christian education that is based on four foundations: • Spirituality, Family, Values, and Academics. Our goal is to educate students who are productive citizens and who actively spread the gospel to the world through the four foundations they have been taught. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE To be the local Christian answer to the worldwide search for knowledge. We help our students to be a part of a worldwide mission without leaving home. We encourage our students to live Christ’s love in their daily classes and help others find their way to God.

  7. ESLR’s • Spiritual Growth. SFVA students will become familiar with Biblical principles by: • a) Increasing their understanding of God and His love for them • b) Developing a relationship with God and placing Him first in their lives • c) Identifying and using their spiritual gifts • d) Identifying situations in which they can reach out to their community.

ESLR’s • Family: SFVA students will demonstrate an understanding of social awareness by: • a) Recognizing the importance God places on the family. • b) Treating others with respect and dignity • c) Recognizing the value of individual diversity • d) Being part of a church family by participating in church activities

  9. ESLR’s • Values. SFVA students will demonstrate familiarity with Christian values and life-style choices by: • a) Recognizing the Christian values necessary for temperate living • b) Exhibiting appropriate behaviors through self-control and self-discipline • c) Engaging in healthful living on a consistent basis. • d) Practicing a strong work ethic.

  10. ESLR’s • Academic Competence. SFVA students will demonstrate academic competence by: • a) Learning new skills to help reach academic goals and objectives • b) Improving communication through reading, writing, and listening • c) Demonstrating an ability to think logically, analytically, and critically • d) Developing and integrating technology skills in all coursework.

WASC • NEED-School Shareholders who are willing to work on the focus groups with the staff. • TIMELINE-Self Study • First three chapters completed by November 15, 2012, sent to committee chair for initial review. • First Draft to be completed by December 21, 2012 • Final review and revisions to be completed by January 31, 2013. • Self-Study sent to WASC committee members February 1, 2013 • Visitation date is March 4-6, 2013

Strategic Plan Highlights • Faculty and Staff spent one year creating this plan. • Board approved the plan at the August , 2012 Board meeting effective beginning this school year. • The plan is a 5 year plan. • The Board, Faculty, and Staff will review the plan on an annual basis. • The plan is a dynamic document, which will be modified as needed.
