Endurreisn á Íslandi • Á Íslandi birtist húmanisminn einkum í miklum áhuga á fornsögum og annálaritun. • Arngrímur lærði Jónsson (+1648) gaf út varnarrit á latínu til þess að leiðrétta ranghugmyndir útlendinga um Ísland. • Árið 1609 skrifaði hann fyrstu samfelldu Íslandssöguna á latínu: Crymogæa

  3. Handrit • Erlendis vaknaði mikill áhugi á gömlum íslenskum handritum. • Árni Magnússon (+1730) safnaði handritum um gjörvallt Ísland. • Flutti til Kaupmannahafnar þar sem stór hluti þess varð eldi að bráð.
