  1. Enterprise EditionCourse 7000 Enterprise Server Configuration CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  2. Topics Server Prerequisites For All Databases Database Planning ODBC / DSN Connections Master Server Configuration Enterprise ID Allocation Regional Server Configuration Enterprise Segmentation Enterprise Permissions CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  3. Enterprise Server Prerequisites • Prerequisites apply to all servers in the Enterprise • Windows 2003 Server Or Windows 2008 Server • (see Lenel.com for additional specs) • SQL Server 2005 / 2008 or Oracle • Lenel OnGuard Enterprise software • Install Enterprise License File • Run OnGuard Database Setup • Enterprise User Guide in OnGuard Documentation CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  4. Database Configuration Planning • Master Database • Standard Database located on Master Server • Stores transactions replicated from all Regional Servers • Will need to be large enough to store: • Transactions for ALL Regions • Required for online reporting • Size based on • Total Number of Regions • Quantity of Transactions (Hardware and User) CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  5. Database Configuration Planning • Regional Databases • Database located on Regional Servers • Stores transactions replicated from all Child Regions • Will need to be large enough to store: • Transactions for all Children • Required for online reporting • Size based on • Number of Child Regions • Quantity of Transactions (Hardware and User) CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  6. Database Backups and Archiving • Schedule backups and archiving to run on ALL servers • During low Database activity times if possible • Backup will temporarily degrade system performance • After replication has completed “end of day” • NEVER restore a Lenel Enterprise Database to any server under any circumstances without contacting Lenel Technical Support first • It will likely corrupt the multiple server system due to the interaction between databases and the frequency of your backups CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  7. ODBC / DSN Connections Other Region DB Regional Server DSNto[RegionServerName] Additional DSN required if connecting to another Region’s DB for monitoring 2 DSNs must exist On all Regional Servers 1 DSN must exist On the Master Server DSNto[RegionServerName] DSNto[ParentServerName] May not use ODBC DSN of Lenel Regional DB Parent DB CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  8. Replication Administration • Available in LenelOnGuard program group in both the standard product and Enterprise edition of LenelOnGuard. • Used to configure and manage • Enterprise systems • Mobile badging stations • Software license file will determine the ability to configure the database as Enterprise or Distributed ID (Mobile Badging) • Replication Administration User Guide in OnGuard Documentation CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  9. Master Server Configuration • OnGuard | Replication Administration • Select Enterprise Master Server • Virtual Name, if applicable (FTS, Disaster recovery) • Must configure Master Server first • The Database will be segmented • The default segment will be named that of the server display as configured using Replication Administration • The master server will have its own segment CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  10. Master Server Configuration CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  11. ID Allocation Service • Supplies IDs (Primary Keys) to ALL regions in the Enterprise • Done through Remote Procedure Call (RPC) • Default communication port is TCP:4065 – Configured in ACS.INI [Services] “IDAllocationRpcPort” CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  12. ID Allocation Service CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  13. Regional Server Configuration • OnGuard | Replication Administration • Select Enterprise Regional Server • Server Display Name • Regional Server information (Replicator) • Virtual Server, if applicable • Master/Parent Server information • Database selection • Suggested DSN naming convention • DSNto[RegionalServerName] CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  14. Regional Server Configuration CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  15. Parent Server Authentication Requires SA account login to direct parent CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  16. Regional Server Configuration Pre-Allocating ID Ranges CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  17. Changing Display Name • Server display names can be easily adjusted • A prompt informs the user that replications are required to propagate the change throughout the Enterprise • The change is instantly updated at the local server • All open views are refreshed • Non-Local systems are updated after replication and logout/login CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  18. Enterprise Warnings / Alerts CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  19. Enterprise Segmentation Example Segment 1 Master Server Segment 2 Segment 3 Regional Server Regional Server Segment 3a Segment 3b Segment 4 Segment 5 Client Client Client Client Regional Server Regional Server Segment 5a Segment 5b Client Client Client Client CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  20. Master Server Login • Master Server Login • Log in as <All Segments – Master - Recursive> Administrator • Master and all Regional segments • Log in as <All Segments – Region - Local or Recursive> • Region Only (Local) • Region + All Children (Recursive) CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  21. Log in as an Individual Segment • The single master or regional segment information only • May log in to multiple segments or segment group • Segment login acts as a filter • RECURSIVE = Local + All Children CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)

  22. Summary Server Prerequisites Database Planning ODBC / DSN Connections Master Server Configuration Enterprise ID Allocation Regional Server Configuration Enterprise Segmentation Enterprise Permissions CR7000 - M03.01 - 6.4.500 TU 1 (Server Config)
