  1. Clovis High School Career Center Step Up to Success

  2. History of the Career Center • We began working on the Career Center in the fall of 2006. We used suggestions and guidelines from Career Guidance and Development Best Practices (part 2) from the NMPED to help us with the process. We also visited career centers in Santa Fe and Rio Rancho as well as researched other centers on the web to gain insight.

  3. Our Mission • We opened our doors to students in the spring of 2007 with the following as our mission: • The Clovis Municipal Schools Career Center will lead ALL Clovis High School students to develop goals and determine the most essential path for achieving their individual career objective.

  4. Our Uses for the Career Center • We use the career center to facilitate transition by helping students to focus their post secondary interests and needs. • The Career Center is a college and career planning resource room for assisting students in developing strategies for educational and career goal accomplishments. The center is managed by an advisor who is available to all students, staff, and parents.

Our Available Services • Individual services include career counseling, financial aid search assistance, college admission search, job search assistance • Classroom presentations • On-site college admission program • Staff assistance in developing a portfolio • Parent Conferences • Large group presentation to parents • College Fairs, Job Fairs

  7. Services Provided With an Advisor • Choices Explore: This programs offers students an array of career and transition assessment options.   8. Continued • Virtual Job Shadow: Through the use of streaming video technology, VirtualJobShadow.com provides a behind-the-scenes look at life on the job. Each career profile is comprised of a “day-in-the-life” video, interactive video questions/ answers, and relevant text information so that people can make educated decisions about their future. http://www.virtualjobshadow.com/
