  2. Cohort 1, 2011 (3-day) • Hanover • Region II Collaborative • Stafford • Fairfax • SVRP • Amherst/Lynchburg • Halifax • 6 representatives from VDOE TTACs • Total: 41 people

  3. Cohort 2, 2012 (3-day) • Prince George • Norfolk • Portsmouth • Gloucester • Fairfax • Region VI Collaborative • Wise • 4 new reps from VDOE TTACs • Total: 46 people

  4. These 87 people then provide: • 2 academy courses (30 participants for each) • 2 trainings for SLP (350 participants) • 1 training for ID dept. in schools • 4 trainings for school nurses • Training at Leadership Conference, Abingdon • 2 trainings for special ed administrators • 2 training for OT/PT staff • 1 training for P.E. Teachers (15) • 1 training for school psychologists/SW (21)

(cont’d.) • 1 training for special ed teachers (100) • 1 training for general educators (20) • 1 training for behavior specialists (10) • 10 articulated trainings in one school div. for >500 educators, admin, and school board members • 1 webinar for OT/PT/Psych/SW (20) • 1 meeting with Channel 47 to share info

Don’t forget emails! • 138 team members in schools across VA + 473 more educators = 611 • VDOE/Partnership for People with Disabilities sends Articles, notice of online trainings, research findings to 611 plus educators monthly • 611 educators send emails to countless other educators in their schools/regions = • Many, many more people with TBI resources!

Next steps…continue • building capacity by training teams • increasing awareness of TBI in schools and university coursework • promoting concussion policy • improving identification of students with TBI • sharing resources • building collaborative networks between schools and hospitals/brain injury services
