  3. The Course • 60% Controlled Assessment Tasks : • 3 x 8 hour short tasks • 1 x 40 hour task, Child Study of a child under 5years • 40% Exam: • 5 questions on the course content taken in June Year 11

  4. An Academic Subject • Although interesting you need to be aware that this subject has a large academic content and is not just about cooing over babies! • Theory work is extensive • You will need to be prepared to write lesson notes and complete essays. • Weekly homework is essential

  5. Our Results • Regularly over 64% A*-C • 2012; Best Ever 71% A*-C • The National Average last year was only 54% making Worle one of the top performing schools in the country in this subject!

  6. Reality Babies Borrow your own “reality baby” for a weekend to see what it’s REALLY like being a parent!

  7. Practical Work • A small amount of practical work is included in the course where relevant

  8. Course Requirements • A desire to work hard • The ability to work independently • The ability to meet deadlines • Finding a child under 5 years whose parents will allow you to study their child
