  1. DWTU Structural Integrity Harmonization NSF/ANSI 42, 44, & 53

  2. Issue Products can be certified across multiple standards which may cause inconsistency in testing and evaluating products. This is especially a problem with products originally tested and certified to one standard but then requesting certification to another standard with a more stringent requirement.

  3. Example • Completesystem tested to NSF/ANSI 42, but then requesting NSF/ANSI 44. Assume 8” pressure vessel. NSF/ANSI 42 Cycle = 100,000 cycle from 0 to 150 psi (or MWP) Hydo = 1.5 x MWP or 150 psi (whichever greater) NSF/ANSI 44 Cycle = 100,000 cycle from 0 to 150 psi (or MWP) Hydro = 2.4 x MWP or 300 psi (whichever greater)

  4. Proposal Change 42, 44 and 53 standards for complete systems to: Cycle testing would remain the same, but would be revised to include the same product categories as the hydrostatic test. Hydrostatic Testing • Complete system with pressure vessels < 8” = 3 x MWP or 300 psi (whichever greater). • Complete system with pressure vessels >/= 8” = 2.4 x MWP or 240 psi (whichever greater). • Valves and controls = 3 x MWP or 300 psi (whichever greater)

  5. Proposal Also, Table 5 in NSF/ANSI 44 would be updated to harmonize the system and component types with 42 and 53 and the applicable testing requirements.
