  1. Feedback from CTC Lau Gatignon MDI, 11 June 2010

  2. LG presented the MDI status at the CTC on May 18th, 11 days after our review. This was the first full MDI report at CTC since October 6th (Action plan presentation) • The presentation was based on a selection of slides from the review meetingas well as from earlier MDI meetings. • The report was well received and the CTC concluded that we are very close to beingready for writing the CDR chapter.A little more work is needed on a few items, but they agree with our path to get there. • What is still useful for the CDR (or rather for the TDR?), but not in the MDI chapter, is a revised full simulation of all stabilization and feedback/feed-forward systems similarto the one presented by Daniel Schulte at our January meeting, but with realisticperformance parameters.Hermann Schmickler will organize special meetings to organize this work. • The discussions were lively and interesting, but very positive.E.g. question on combining rigid supports for main quads with soft QD0 support, a question which will in the end be addressed by the meeting mentioned above • The new cavern layout was seen very positively and we are encouraged tocontinue along this road.

  3. Combined simulations Daniel Schulte presented combined simulations, including ground motion, to some extent technical noise and the effect of feedbacks, feedforward andstabilisation systems at our January meeting. Since then our design has evolved. Also some effects were only integrated approximately. We have to do a full simulation at some moment, including full mechanical simulationsof all quadrupoles in the main linac as well in the BDS and MDI region. Preferrablyvalidated by measurements on prototypes. This will not be ready for the CDR. However, it would be very useful to have some plausible simulations based on as realistic as possible assumptions for the CDR (i.e. well before the end of this year). This means that Daniel Schulte must get the best possible input from our side. A firstmeeting organised by Hermann Schmickler took place last Wednesday. In a special meeting around the 23rd of June, organised again by Hermann, we have to statewhat we (MDI) think we can deliver at such a timescale (how and when). This will includetransfer functions from the ground to the support tube including the pre-isolator, prealignment equipment, stabilisation performance, IP feedback, etcetera. The QD0 integration meeting on June 21st will be dedicated to this
