Presidential Address from Archbishop Justin • An inspiring overview of the coming days • ‘… a time of revolutions …’ • ‘We are custodians of the gospel that transforms individuals, nations and societies. We are called by God to respond radically and imaginatively to new contexts.’ • Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your people and kindle in them the fire of your love. Amen.

  4. Business stuff • Budget • Church Commissioners’ Annual Report • Archbishop’s Council’s Annual Report

  5. Women in the episcopate • Facilitated group work on Saturday • Debate on Monday re draft legislation • 4 options considered • Option 1.75 approved • Steering Group to be set up to do the work

  6. Safeguarding • Following up the investigation into child abuse cases in Chichester • Urgent call to enhance our safeguarding arrangements • Remember the parishes!

  7. Welfare reform and the church • Work of local churches supporting those in need commended • Concern for the most vulnerable and the impact of welfare cuts • Recommendations to be brought back to Synod

  8. Progress on meeting the current challenges • Contributing as the national Church to the common good • Facilitating the growth of the Church and making disciples • Re-imagining the Church’s ministry

  9. A prayer for the growth of the Church God our Creator and Redeemer, help your Church to grow in holiness, unity, effectiveness and numbers. Draw us closer to you and to those around us. Give us enthusiasm in our faith, and wisdom in sharing it with young and old.

  10. Open our eyes to new opportunities, our lips to sing and speak of you and our hearts to welcome the stranger. Grow your kingdom in us and in the world, through the intercession of our Lord Jesus Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
