  1. Bango Payforit Webinar June 13thwww.bango.com/payforit

  2. Agenda • What is Payforit ? • The Payforit experience • Payforit scheme rules v1.2 • Bango enhanced payment experience • Bango global payment flow • Customizing the payment flow • Site personalization • Marketing opt-in and MSISDN pass-through • Launch timeline • Summary

  3. What is Payforit? • “A safe and trustworthy environment under which mobile phone users may purchase goods and services and charge the cost to their mobile phone accounts” • A standard payment experience across all UK operators, regardless of the merchant (CP) involved • Payforit is a visual experience • The UK operators will promote Payforit as a trusted name • Payforit does not change how payments are collected

  4. Common misconceptions • More users will be able to pay once Payforit has launched • Payforit does not change how payment is collected. Payment success rates pre-Payforit will be the same post-Payforit. • Payforit will increase my revenue • If you are currently using Premium SMS, Payforit should increase your revenue, as you will be moving to WAP billing. • I will no longer be able to market to my customers • You will be able to market to your users under the Payforit rules. The only requirement is that your user has given you their consent to send marketing messages. • Making my service Payforit compliant will take weeks/months of my development team’s time • If you use an SMS aggregator or other billing provider, this is likely. If you use Bango, your service is already compliant – you don’t need to do anything.

  5. Payforit mandated flow

  6. Payforit v1.2 scheme rules • Published on May 23rd • Accommodates more CP friendly features • Bango feedback adopted by the operators • Payment flow fully brandable in the merchant style • Payforit logo below price description and above Pay Now link • Post-payment marketing opt-in page clarifications • Page can only be used to opt-into marketing • But, once a user has opted in, no need to show this page again

  7. Bango enhanced payment experience

  8. Bango payment flow changes • Minimal changes to established Bango payment flow • A little more descriptive, but not too verbose • Clear natural language description of payment event • Green tick to pay • Red cross to cancel • Meets UK Payforit requirements • Additional “best practice” adopted globally • Your merchant name and customer care details on-screen • Biller logo shown on payment page • Reminder that operator data charges may also apply • Post-payment marketing opt-in page • Legitimate way for user to opt into marketing messages • All of these changes are automatic – you don’t need to do anything

  9. Bango global payment flow • Spirit of Payforit adopted globally • Blends your site into the payment flow • Biller logos add customer confidence • Revenue increase…

  10. Customizing the flow • Merchant name shown throughout payment flow • Customer care contact details shown on Terms and Conditions page • Your merchant name, telephone helpline, email and address • Puts your customers directly in contact with you • Add your own Ts&Cs • Useful for complying with individual operator/country requirements • Or showing any unique service terms • All configuration can be set by country • All configurable in real-time via Bango.com

  11. Site personalization • The Bango Identifier service provides a unique customer identity • A unique “Fingerprint” for every customer • Works globally • The MSISDN is never the customer identity • If a user changes operator, their MSISDN may change, but their Fingerprint will not

  12. Marketing opt-in page • Payforit requires this page is shown after every purchase • But the page is an opt-in page - cannot be used to opt out • As an opt-in only page, display unnecessary once a user is opted in • Default behaviour is to show this page ONCE • You can change the behaviour via Bango.com Properties • ONCE – ask once, then never again • NEVER – don’t offer a chance to opt in (as we don’t promote) • ALWAYS – keep asking the user until they do opt in • Real-time control via Relay “askoptin” parameter • Showing every time may confuse customers • “I received a marketing message but I didn’t tick the box” • “Ah, but you did last time, sir…”

  13. Marketing opt-ins management • Valuable functionality above Payforit requirements • Like My Subscriptions, but for marketing opt-ins • Easy opt-in and opt-out management • Shows current opt-in status for each CP • Intuitive – check to opt in, uncheck to opt out • Automatically shows all purchases • A future release will allow deep linking • Your site links to page managing your opt-in status • Branded in your style • Link back to your site

  14. Detecting marketing opt-ins • Real-time “optedin” output parameter tells you the user opt-in state • y – user has opted in • n – user has opted out • <missing> – user hasn’t answered the question (or hasn’t been asked) • Use this information to detect opted in users • Use the Bango Web Services API to check opt-in state • And get MSISDNs for opted-in customers

  15. User Information Web Service • A new secure Web Service for you to obtain a user’s MSISDN • MSISDN release must be secure • API requires you tell us the purpose for which you need the MSISDN • i.e. Support, Content Delivery, Marketing, Partner Marketing • If purpose allowed, MSISDN released • Operator rules applied • Our system configured with the MSISDN release rules for each operator • In the UK, MSISDNs can be released for support and delivery • For other countries, some operators may allow, others may not • The UK operators are monitoring MSISDN usage

  16. MSISDN pass-through rules MSISDN passedto API Passed to CP for Inbound Customer Support Passed to CP forServiceDelivery Marketing Opt-In box 1 pre-ticked Mobile Site Personalisation (UK law on cookies must be applied)     ASID See Note*      See Note*           Encrypted via API & requires opt-out on site For pre-approved scenarios Conditions Apply     Party ID See Note** * Where API has tested and proved that the marketing preference wording is visible to the consumer ‘above the fold’ on the device being used. **Unless user has seen prior warning re. MSISDN use and at the time was given the opportunity to terminate the transaction without their MSISDN being captured. Further terms and conditions apply, please see individual network contracts. All customer data is subject to all applicable law and regulations governing the collection and use of personal information.

  17. Launch timeline • 1st June – Bango “Payforit flow” launched globally • 1st July – Payforit required for all new services on O2 • 1st September – Payforit required for all services on O2 • Other UK operators expected to match these dates

  18. Summary • If you are a Bango customer, your site is already Payforit-ready • When Bango switches on the Payforit flow on each operator launch date, you need to do nothing – you will automatically comply • If you are NOT a Bango customer, you must act now • Your best option is to sign up for the Bango service or speak to our Sales team • For as little as £299/€399/$499 per month, you will be Payforit-compliant with Bango and still be able to bill customers world-wide
