  3. Problems? • Why should we think about ICT-competencies of teacher trainers? Teachers in spe don’t know how to use ICT in a didactical way…. Why? They don’t see enough teacher trainers doing it!

  4. Teacher trainer Teacher Student What do we expect regarding ict and digital literacy skills?

  5. Finding answers what is happening in 15 teacher training institutes? What do we want?  Curriculum analyse – Interviews – measuring ICT skills

  6. Example: do you train your teacher students how to make good digital exercises (technical, didactical) ?

  7. Results curriculum • Mostly focus on buttons & There is no attention on the didactical approach of new ICT • No clear teamview what is expected and given by colleagues teacher trainers…

  8. Other results • Teacher trainer is mostly not a role model • Infrastructure • Large groups • Distance learning • Lack of time and vision

Examples of suggestions • Do you have an zone for experiments (with new technologies) • What should practice schools need? • What if teachers can’t install test software due ICT policy…? • Can teacher students use licenses at home? • Use scenario’s for innovate didactical & technical environments (itec.eun.org)

  14. *** educate pupils to use ICT in a conscious way, respecting: ergonomics, ecology, preciseness, intellectual property, value of equipment. *** stimulate pupils to use ICT in such a way it is enriching for themselves, for others and for society.

Indicators for each component • A.1. 7. leerlingen vormen tot bewuste ICT-gebruikers, met aandacht voor ergonomie, ecologie, nauwkeurigheid, respect voor intellectuele eigendom en voor apparatuur. • Kan leerlingen aanleren om prijsbewust om te gaan met media en ICT middelen • Kan leerlingen leren om zorgzaam, duurzaam en ecologisch om te gaan met media en ICT-middelen (energie verbruik, e-waste of recyclage) • Kan leerlingen leren om ergonomisch met ICT en media middelen om te gaan (werkhouding, aantal uren schermwerk etc.) • Kent de auteursrechten goed en past deze zelf toe en neemt contact op met een deskundige bij twijfel • Kan leerlingen motiveren en aanleren om te werken conform het auteursrecht en correct (ook digitale) bronnen te citeren • Kan omgaan met plagiaattoepassingen • Kent het belang van de Creative Common Licenses en hoe men een licentievorm kan toekennen aan een eigen ontwikkeld leermiddel • A.1. 8. leerlingen stimuleren om ICT zo in te zetten zodat dit verrijkend is voor zichzelf, voor anderen of voor de maatschappij. • Vertrouwd is met de virtuele wereld waarin jongeren actief zijn (bijv Facebook, gebruik SMS, games..) • Kan met leerlingen een pedagogisch gesprek aangaan over hun gebruik van ICT-middelen en media. • Kent symptomen van internet/computerverslaving en kan doorverwijzen

Discuss it!

Strategies to get teacher students & teacher trainers engaged in didactical use of ICT Be aware We have not to teach everything, but should get students interested and engaged to use ICT in the best way. -- Technical elements (not a problem) -- Didactical & pedagogical use Basic competencies should be certified, but also their competence to discover and integrate new technologies in a didactical setting
