Navy and Marine Corps Disability Attorney Services • Navy and Marine Corps Disability Attorneys provide legal advice and assistance to wounded, ill and injured Servicemembers navigating the Disability Evaluation System (DES) process as they are evaluated for potential retention, medical separation or medical retirement • Navy DES Attorneys are divided into two categories: • Informal PEB (IPEB) Located at MTFs in Various AORs • Navy Disability Attorneys review and develop Medical Evaluation Board packages for Service members prior to adjudication by the Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) • Managed by Code 16 & USMC • Formal PEB (FPEB) • Provide individual representation for Sailors and Marines before the Formal Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) onboard the Washington Navy Yard • Manned by Navy & Marine Corps Judge Advocates & Navy Civilian Attorney • Managed by Code 16
