  4. The Five Essential Components of Reading • Phonemic Awareness • Phonics • Vocabulary • Fluency • Comprehension

  5. Reading Groups Your child will be engaged in reading lessons taught at their instructional reading level. These lessons will focus on… • High frequency words • Word work and phonics • Building strategies for figuring out unknown words • Comprehension strategies • Reading with fluency • Writing about our reading

  6. Fundations Fundations is a systematic and explicit approach to language learning. It is a research based program that is multi-sensory and focuses on… • Letter/Sound Awareness • Blending and Segmenting Sounds • Decoding • Spelling • Fluency

Bounce Details • Bounce is held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15-4:15 • A light will snack will be provided at the beginning of each Bounce session. • Transportation home is provided via the late bus. • The summer portion of the Bounce program runs for six weeks (M, T, W, Th 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.) • Bounce is designed to help your child transition successfully into 2nd grade. • The Bounce program is free of charge.
