  1. Labor Relations Law By Ryan Glock, Kirsten, and Brady

  2. What is Labor Relations Laws? This is a group of laws to protect groups of employees not just individuals. The main part is the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).

  3. What does the NLRA do? The NLRA allows for the forming of unions, allows for unions to negotiate with companies, and allows unions to strike legally.

  4. What is a Union? A union is a collection of workers who gather together to try and bargain for more rights, higher wages, or better working conditions.

  5. Can businesses ignore Unions? Not really, By law a business has to listen and give a counteroffer to a union’s demands before dismissing them. Often a business and a union will negotiate to settle problems and arguments.

  6. What can a union do if ignored? A union can strike or publicly protest legallyif ignored or demands are denied. This means that all employees will not come to work or will hold a protest in front of the business place. A strike is a union’s ultimate power.

  7. Who can be in a Union? Anyone can, as long as you're employed in a business. However most members of a union are low level workers or supervisory management.

  8. What unions might I know? The three biggest unions in the US are the Teamsters, the National Education Association, and the AFL-CIO. There are many unions that are local and you might even know member or two like Mr. Hakim!
