Strengths of Indonesia • Large population, (2015 census: 260 million) • Great natural resources (gold, nickel, coal, oil, etc) • Sports industry • Information technology • The existence of sports Constitution • The number of sports clubs in all regions of Indonesia • Cooperation with the companies

Indonesian parents perceptions • The children must choose between career as an athlete or education, its effect many young athletes leaved the school / choose not to take an education. • They wants to have a good performance in both of these (education and sports performance), so that a young athlete has a heavy burden, where he had trained hard in the field and learn the full pressure at school • An athlete’s require large funds and no guarantee of the future live, so many athletes who quit becoming an athlete

  4. Indonesian Policy(related education and career young athletes) • Legislation related to education and future athletes: • Constitution, no. 3 of 2005 (National Sports System) • Government Regulations, no. 18 of 2007 (Sports Funding) • Ministerial Regulation, no. 1684 of 2015 (awards in sport)

Indonesian Policy(related education and career young athletes) • This can be described as follows: • Parents, communities, and the government is obliged to support national sports, • To promote sport, government and communities developed: • a. sports clubs • b. research and development of science and technology in sports; • c. coaching center for sporting achievement; • d. education and training of personnel in sports; • e. infrastructure and facilities for sporting achievement; • f. scouting system and the development of sporting talent; • g. information systems in sports; and • h. to test the ability of an athlete achievement at local, national, and international in accordance with requirements

Indonesian Policy(related education and career young athletes) • Funding of sports: • Being the responsibility of central government, local government, and society • In 2015, the central government earmarked funds for sports Rp. 1.27 trillion ($ 98 million) per year, and the average of local governments to raise $ 150 billion / year ($ 11 million) • Another funding also comes from: the community, industries, and assistance from abroad (each different area)

Indonesian Policy(related education and career young athletes) • Awards can be: • Provision of convenience, scholarship, insurance, employment, promotions, honors, citizenship, pension, welfare. • Provision of convenience in terms of getting a job, gain access to education, obtains employment permits. Such convenience has a condition that: a champion of sports at local, national, or international • Award in scholarships awarded to athletes and coaches in formal, informal education (school and university) and training. • Award to get a job. The job includes: civil servants, military, police, employees of the company.
