  1. (tentative) Conclusions of the ConferenceiMAF 2014, Reichenau (AT)Sylvain PaileUniversity of Liège (BE)spaile@ulg.ac.be

  2. Before the iMAF... The situation • No strong legal basis for cooperation between institutes • Strategic culture and education: the chicken or the egg? • The common modules were “evolutive” • A need to “revitalize” the LoD8 • The reflection of the expertise of the institution of origin • “Academic” first, then “vocational” • Attempts of training material not satisfying

  3. Beginning of the iMAF... Assumptions • Space for new common modules • “Managing future challenges” and “future management of (today and future) challenges” • A “vocational” future (?): practice-oriented & branch-oriented • Focus on learning outcomes: addition of environment to content of learning • Propositions of common modules can depart from a need or a (pre-existing) expertise • Modularisation is a challenge

  4. End of the iMAF... Findings (I) • New common modules have been proposed • Hard to say that they are all about “managing future challenges”rather than “future management of (today and future) challenges” • 6 propositions are related to vocational, 7 to academic, 2 of them can be seen as cross-cutting. Majority of teaching/instructing methods. Majority “all arms”; • An effort for describing the learning outcomes, in line with the LoD2 • Most of the propositions formulated are offers of existing modules in the institutions of origin • Modularisation is an intent

  5. End of the iMAF... Findings (II) Categories of modules: • Personal development • Mental • Physical • Knowing the strategic environment • Managing the operational environment

  6. After the iMAF... Action! • 9 modules’ curricula can be proposed to the Initiative’s Implementation Group for consideration • Acceptance of modularisation • Acknowledgement of the outcomes (LoD2) • Recognition of mobility experiences • Commitment: organisation & participation • A “catalogue”? • Supporting teaching and training material

  7. Thank you for your inputs… … Confident in the outputs! Sylvain Paile spaile@ulg.ac.be
