Advancement of Roadside Technologies • I-95 Express Lanes (29 miles) will open in early 2015 • I-66 Active Traffic Management (ATM) system will be operational in early 2015 • I-77 Fancy Gap Mountain will have an Active Traffic and Safety Management System with Variable Speed Limits by the end of 2015 • Existing Connected Vehicle test bed in Northern Virginia will be expanded further west on I-66 • New funding in six year program for deployment of CCTV cameras and DMS on key interstate routes • Continued expansion of fiber optic resource sharing routes

Fiber Optic Resource SharingProgram Background • VDOT’s Fiber Optic Resource Sharing program allows communications providers to install fiber infrastructure on limited-access right-of-way • In exchange, the provider allows VDOT to use a number of fibers to support its Operations Program • VDOT currently has agreements with 16 communications providers with access to 3,200 miles of fiber

Statewide TOC & ATMS Services Contract • Statewide contract provides comprehensive, performance-based services: • TOC Floor Operations • ITS Field Maintenance • Safety Service Patrol Operations • Statewide ATMS Solution and Technology Support • Program Management and Governance • General Support Services • Contract awarded to Serco July 1, 2013, includes a team of subcontractors • Six year base term with three, 2 year renewals (replaced 11 separate contracts) • All operational services have been successfully transitioned in all 5 Regions • Phased implementation for ATMS platform (Platform as a Service) • Salem and Staunton TOCs end of July 2014 • Richmond TOC this fall • NOVA and Hampton Roads TOCssummer 2015
