University of Montenegro: • 11 000 students statistics might be misleading of the excessive duration of studies, 7-8 years the average • 900 academic staff • 600 administrative staff • University of Montenegro: generic structure that has developed as of 1974 into faculties, colleges and scientific institutes • University of Montenegro is an umbrella structure for all of these entities • Located in five towns: Podgorcia, Niksic, Cetinje, Kotor and Herceg-Novi fragmentation Donor Information Meeting on Education Reform in Montenegro

Legal framework • Law on Higher education in Montenegro and the Statute of the UoM To be submitted to the Government by June 2003, extraordinary process, concession of the Government • ECTS prescribed, introduction has started in 70% of courses, Instructions, relieving workload • Diploma Supplement and new range of diplomas, separation of academic and applied postgraduate programs Instructions • Envisaged possibility of founding universities and other institutions of higher education • Licensing vested with the Ministry of Education and Science, while accreditation of studies and courses will be done by Accreditation Agency to be founded as a separate institution. At least you need to compare, compete and model after others!
