  1. ENO ENERGY CO-OPERATIVE

  2. 3 heat plants - 0,8 MW -1MW + 1 MW - 1,2 MW + 0,8 MW • Net length 8,7 Km • Requirements for energy 15 000 MWh / a

  3. ENO YLÄKYLÄ

  4. The benefits of long distance heating in Eno • Cheaper than oil or electricity heating • Safe and reliable • Heating plants replace about1,9 Mill. Litres oil / year • Approximately 2 Mill. € benefits yearly • Use of local energy wood 11 000 solid-m3 / year • Employment with multiplier effects 7-10 man-years • Positive impacts on silviculture and landscape • Co2 -emissions are lower • Ash returned to the forest

  5. Procurement of the energy wood • Manual cutting 15 %

  6. Harvesting of small diameter trees about 70 %

  7. Young stand thinnings about 200 He / year Before the cutting After the cutting

  8. Logging residues about 15% • Bark from the pulp mill ( if available)

  9. Forest haulage

  10. Landing by the road

  11. Chipping and transport to the heat plant

  12. Cost comparison

  13. Energy wood sales revenues for forest owner Energy wood stumpage price ( entrepreneur makes harvesting and transport to the road side): 1-10 € / solid m3 Whole stem wood from young stands by the road: 15 – 20 €/solid-m³ Support for young stand thinnings : 7 – 12 €/solid-m³ Costs: Harvesting and forest haulage done by entrepreneur (whole stem by the road) 15 – 25 €/solid-m³ Energy incomes for heat entrepreneur: Energy price 30 – 60 €/MWh and basic fee 8 – 14 €/ MWh Costs: Production costs of heat energy : 35 – 50 €/ MWh Conversion factors: 1 solid-m³ = 2,5 loose-m³ wood chips and and about 2 MWh energy 1 loose-m³ wood chips = about 0,85 MWh, ( 0,65-1,00 MWh) 100 litres oil = about 1 MWh Common price levels (VAT 0 %)
