Content • Definition of CDR („core area“ - time-accesibility model + expert definition). • a) Identification of key stakeholders (regional self-government, municipal self-government, regional development agencies, euro regions, major private companies), b) Establishing of the working groups (key stakeholders + project experts) & c) Agreement on schedule of the meetings. • Identification of relevant documents, measures and projects with focus on cross border linkages & Assignment of the measures and projects to the particular indicators. • Analytical description, SWOT analysis of the CDR, Identification of bottlenecks and disparities (within CDR & among CDRs). • Proposal of the new measures with cross Danube effect and Evaluation of new proposed measures on NUTS 3 indicators values (through WP5 prognoses). • Development of sectoral strategies for CDR (global objective, specific objectives, priorities and measures).

Analytical description, SWOTand disparities (1) • GS Economy • General Information • Regional Gross Domestic Product in purchasing power parity during the monitoring period showed a positive significant increase by 60,7% (2008/2001) in the Nitra region. The indicator reached 56,5% of EU average. During the period between 2001 and 2008 the number of economic active population was recorded slightly increase in the region. In 2008 it was reported 360,5 thousand economic active population which was increase by 4,1% in comparison with the year 2001. • Sturovo is primary a spa town (represented with swimming pool “Vadas”). Sturovo as border town is an important traffic position in the road, rail and water transport, with significant in term of combined transport and transshipment of foreign goods. • In the Hungarian part of monitored region Regional Gross Domestic Product in purchasing power parity during the monitoring period showed a positive significant increase by 56,5% (2008/2001) in the Komárom-Eszergom region and by 36,6% in the Pest region (2008/2001). During the period between 2001 and 2008 the rate of economic active population was recorded slightly increase. In 2008 it was reported 59% or 55% active population which was increase by 5% or 4% in comparison with the year 2001. • In 2008, most employees worked in the tertiary sector (56%), especially in commerce and market oriented services in the Nitra region. During the monitoring period it was recorded the significant increase of employment in the sector public administration and defense, building industry and financial businesses. Increase of employment in public administration and defense was caused by the establishing of the self-governing regions as well as devolution of certain competencies from state administration to self-governing municipalities. In the building industry, the year 2008 it was recorded slight decrease due to the start of contraction crisis beginning within the region as well as on national level.

Analytical description, SWOTand disparities (2) • Average Monthly Salary • Average gross nominal monthly salary in region of Nitra was (2008) 690,23 €, which is the third lowest value in comparison with other regions in the Slovak Republic. The increase of wages between 2005 and 2008 was 30, 31%, which is over the average increase of the Slovak Republic (25,85%). The best Average Monthly Salary was reported in international companies (private as well as public sector). In the NoveZamky district average gross nominal monthly salary reached 638,55 €. • In the Hungarian part of monitored region average gross nominal monthly salary reached (2008) approximately 600 €. This value is much above the average in comparison to other regions in Hungary. • Life Expectancy at Birth • In the Nitra region during the monitoring period were noted positive trend of this indicator for men as well as women. The Average Life Expectancy at Birth in the 2008 was reported within the analyzed region at 70,06 (men) and 78, 28 (women). Very similar data was reported in the NoveZamky district where the Average Life Expectancy at Birth in the 2008 reached the value 69,65 (men) and 78, 06 (women). • In the Komárom-Eszergom region, during the monitoring period, were noted positive trend of this indicator for men as well as women. The Average Life Expectancy at Birth in the 2008 was reported within the analyzed region at 76,49 (men) and 77,59 (women). The growth of his indicator of region is high above the average of the Hungarian Danube regions: in 2001 these values were 65 and 74 years, with the worst expectations for the inhabitants among the regions analyzed. The similar positive trend was noted in the Pest region. The Average Life Expectancy at Birth in 2008 was reported within the analyzed region at 77,19 (men) and 78,3 (women). The trend of growing length was very similar to the evolution of the whole region. The Pest region is above the regional average.
