  1. Next Generation Internet (NGI) Connecting to the Future

  2. Team members: • Team leader: Wafa Nimri. • Team member: Ahmad. • Team member: Abdelrashid. • Team member: Sami Aldalahmeh.

  3. Table of Content • Company and setup. • Network and infrastructure. • Other consideration. • Migration steps.

  4. Company and Services • About us New entrant ISP to a market dominated by a single incumbent operator with advanced infrastructure. • Assumptions: • Incumbent operator gets 40% of revenue in exchange for using infrastructure. • Incumbent operator possesses infrastructure able to support high speed internet connectivity.

  5. Company and Services • Currently targeted customers: Small to medium size enterprises (SMEs). • Current services to customers: • Basic Internet connection (dial up). • VoIP. • Broadband Internet (ADSL).

  6. Company and Services • Customer segment and service expansion: • SMEs and regional operators. • Services rational: • VPN: Need for meetings over long distances with less time and cost. • IP Centrex: Different geographical places acts as one big Centrex group with easier access. • Video conferencing: Need for meetings over long distances with less time and cost.

  7. Network and infrastructure • Required equipments for present services: • Dial up modems. • DSLAM. • VoIP enabled server. • Switch to provide server interconnection. • Router for incumbent Internet connection.

  9. Network and infrastructure • Services for new customers: • VPN. • Video conferencing. • Wide area Centrex. • Equipments: • SIP enabled servers for each services. • Switch to provide server interconnection. • Use existing router for Internet connection.

  10. Network and infrastructure NGN based assumptions for expansion: • Agreements with regional operators. • Regional NGN equipment. • NGN enabled incumbent operator. • Connections to clients basic (copper). • Our new NGN equipments are SIP enabled.

  11. Network and infrastructure • Connect existing equipments to incumbents’ NGN media gateway (MGW). • Acquire a separate server for each services. • Connect new NGN equipments directly to incumbents’ NGN network. • Connect NGN equipments together via Ethernet. • Dial-up modem becomes obsolete. • VoIP Software upgrade/SIP supported.
