  11. Create the Map & Define Term You and a partner will CREATE a CIRCLE MAP for the word you are assigned. Be sure to draw the FRAME. Task: Write your WORD in the small circle at the center of the map. Write the DEFINITION of the word immediately above the word where the red arrow appears. Be sure to write the complete definition.

  12. Illustrate PASS YOUR PAPER to a new group. Task 1: Read the definition of the new word you received. Task 2: Create a PICTURE, SYMBOL, or GRAPHIC to represent the word inside the circle where the arrow appears. Base your picture on the definition of the word.

  13. Examples PASS YOUR PAPER to the same group you passed to last time. Task 1: Evaluate the PICTURES in the frame just outside of where the picture was drawn. Do they make sense with the definition? Add to them if necessary. Task 2: Give two EXAMPLES of when, where, how, or why the term might be used in the circle where the red arrow appears.

  14. Characteristics PASS YOUR PAPER to the same group you passed to last time. Task 1: Evaluate the EXAMPLES in the frame just outside of where they are written. Do they make sense with the definition? Add to them if necessary. Task 2: Write at least two CHARACTERISTICS of the word inside the circle where the red arrow appears.

  15. Define in Your Own Words PASS YOUR PAPER to the same group you passed to last time. Task 1: Evaluate the CHARACTERISTICS in the frame just outside of where they are written. Do they make sense with all of the other information you know? Add to them if necessary. Task 2: Write a NEW DEFINITION of the vocab word in YOUR OWN WORDS where the red arrow appears.

  16. Evaluate & Present PASS YOUR PAPER to the same group you passed to last time. Evaluate the information on your map to ensure accuracy and completion. Complete the FRAME OF REFERENCE. Across the Top: Write one way you could use this term outside of this class today. Across the Bottom: Explain this term to a small child in very simple terms. On the Left Side: Explain the context in which this term would normally be used. On the Right Side: Explain any positive or negative connotations that might be associated with this term. Write your name(s) on the back of the map. Present the map to the class. Take notes on each word as your peers present.
