  7. Roles and potential roles • Health promotion • Providing safe, accessible sites for physical activity • Providing trained, certified professionals • Providing environments which are equipped to deal with potential emergencies or untoward events

  9. However • The message from other health care professionals is often less than encouraging • Cost is prohibitive to a large section of the community • Attitudes, perceptions and previous experiences may be a barrier • Lack of education w.r.tmodern day facilities may also be a barrier

The Way Forward • Establish standards and guidelines through local association • Educate and/or expose other health professionals to the experience of a health club • Actively include health clubs in all physical activity promotion • Gather information as to the cultural barriers that exist • Reduce cost to the end user through tax benefits/insurance claims etc.
