What do you play up to in womens singles in badminton? • Terminology (language of the sport) • Indirect, Direct, Back four, Off side, Attack, Gain Possession • Free pass, Penalty pass, Blocking, Holding space, Over a third • Backward Hit, Deep field, No ball, Long barrier, Backing up • Swivel hips, Barani, Cradle, Tariff, Voluntary, Compulsory, Judge

  3. What is Observation? Describe what you see Observe form the best position – change if necessary for different aspects of performance Break down the technique/skill/routine (COF- RSPCAB) Observation and analysis • What is Analysis? • Explain why something is happening • Make notes / statistics

  4. Evaluation Interpret information against the perfect model Recognise strengths and weaknesses Provide feedback on limitations to performance Use the correct terminology when feeding back to performer. 1.Verbally, 2.Physical demonstration, 3.Video playback, 4.Diagrams.

  5. Planning Strategies, Tactics and Practices to Improve Performance From your observation, analysis and evaluation you have identified what is going well and what needs to be worked on. What drills/practices are you going to set up to practise these weak areas?

Practices and Drills to improve performance These drill may work on: Footwork in Netball Smash in Badminton Long barrier in Rounders Front Drop in Trampolining Front crawl in Swimming Make sure you can identify the teaching points of different skills: E.G. Teaching a seat drop in trampolining: Teaching PointsProgressions Legs straight Practices seat drop position Toes pointed From standing jump up to land in Hands just behind hips seat drop position Fingers facing towards feet Increase height of bounces
