Plot Plot is the literary element that describes the structure of a story. It shows arrangement of events and actions within a story.
Plot elements Climax: high point of the story at which the eventual outcome becomes clear. Rising Action:events that create tension Falling Action: all of the action which follows the climax Exposition:sets up the situation and introduces the characters Resolution: the conclusion, the tying together of all of the threads
Plot: Conflict Conflict is the dramatic struggle between two forces in a story. Without conflict, there is no plot.

Plot: Character vs. Character Conflict This type of conflict finds the main character in conflict with another character, human or not human. “The new one is the most beautiful of all; he is so young and pretty.” And the old swans bowed their heads before him. Then he felt quite ashamed, and hid his head under his wing; for he did not know what to do, he was so happy, and yet not at all proud. Plot: Character vs. Nature Conflict This type of conflict finds the main character in conflict with the forces of nature, which serve as the antagonist. It´s a Truffula Seed. It´s the last one of all! You´re in charge of the last of the Truffula Seeds. And Truffula Trees are what everyone needs. Plant a new Truffula. Treat it with care. Give it clean water. Plot: Character vs. Society Conflict This type of conflict has the main character in conflict with a larger group: a community, society, culture, etc. “I’m tired of living in a hole,” said Jenny. “Let’s fight for freedom!” cried Bouncer. “We’ll be soldiers! Predictions Are educated guesses about upcoming actions or events. • You can predict by • Analyzing relationships between events • thinking about events that already happened along with what you have learned about the characters. • Looking for details in the story that hint at events to come.

Rikkitikkitaviplot, P. 408 • Rising Action: • Rikkitikkitavi meets Nag, the cobra. • Nag says “look and be afraid., he was threatening RikkirikkiTavi. • He is a young mongoose, he does not have experience fighting cobras. • Rikki fights Nagaina, she is angry. • Rikki meets chuchundra and informs him that Nag and Nagaina are in the house. • Rikki overhears his plans to kill the family. • Rikki kills Nag, and the man shots Nag into two pieces. • Nagaina is mourning next to her eggs. • He plans with Darzee to distract Nagaina from her eggs. Darzee´s wife pretends to be hurt to distract Nagaina away from her eggs.
Rikkitikkitaviplot • Climax: • Darzee´s wife pretending to be hurt leads Nagaina towards the family house. • Rikki kills Nagaina´s egg and leaves one alive. • Nagaina wants to bite Teddy. • Rikki challenges Nagaina to fight. Nagaina fights Rikki but she was also trying to get closer to the egg. As soon as she becomes closer, catches the egg and runs away. • Rikki goes after her into the rat hole where she lived. • Darzee sings a death song for Rikki, for he believes he is dead.
Rikkitikkitaviplot Falling Action:Rikki comes out of the rat hole, Nagaina is dead. He asks the birds to announce it in the garden. He goes back to the house. Resolution: Rikki kills Nagaina and her eggs, he kept the garden safe for he was there to keep snakes away.
