  3. What is Transitional Jobs (TJ)? • Intensive workforce program model for individuals with significant employment barriers • Core elements: • Time-limited paid employment • non-profit, public, and private workplaces • $5.15 - $8 per hour • 20 - 35 hours per week • 3 - 12 months in duration

  4. What is TJ? • Core elements (continued): • Intensive case management • Education (ABE/GED/ESL) and training in soft and hard skills • Managed transitions to unsubsidized employment

  5. Who Benefits from TJ? • Individuals who are unable to successfully obtain or retain employment due to multiple employment barriers • All population groups, including: • People with criminal records • Youth • People on welfare • Immigrants and refugees • Older workers • Homeless individuals • People with disabilities

Why Should You Adopt TJ? • Expands your workforce development program options • Builds your capacity to meet the needs of everyone who comes to you for services • Improves the likelihood of success for the hardest to employ individuals (50-70% obtain unsubsidized employment) • Increases your ability to refer qualified candidates to your local employers

  7. How are TJ Programs Funded? • Dozens of programs in 30 states have developed funding resources • Private foundations • Local, State and Federal Agencies • Corrections • Human and social services • Labor • Housing • Community economic development • Refugee resettlement
