  2. A background check is used by companies to validate or identify whether a person has violated a state or federal laws. If a person has ever been detained or convicted for an offense, these details are normally concealed during background check.

Since questions about criminal records are prohibited during job interviews because of some rules, criminal background investigation is being conducted before producing the final decision. • In the same way, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, or USCIS, performs background checks on all candidates before they obtain any immigration benefits.

  4. The FBI assists the background check process by compiling fingerprint records from several federal and local departments that have detained individuals in the U.S. here’s how to request for a background check:

  5. Make an official letter to the FBI demanding a background check from them. It must include your signature and a date. If you are requesting this information immediately, be sure to include that in your letter, as well as how soon you would like to receive their feedback. Include the deadline on the envelope of the letter.

  6. Download and produce a hard copy of Form FD-258, Fingerprint Form. All FBI background checks must be finished on this form. You must incorporate your birth date and title of the form.

  7. Check the FBI's Web site to check the exact amount you need to send for the processing fee. Grab a money order or write a certified check for the fee. The money order or certified check must be done allocated to the Treasury of the United States.

  8. You must include your complete mailing address on your request. You should also give or include your contact number and/or e-mail address so that they can provide your feedback immediately or if there are unclear information FBI can easily communicate with you.

  9. It is suitable that you mail your request for a background check to the FBI as soon as possible, given that it could take eight to 10 weeks before FBI can send your request depending on the reason for the demand.

  10. When enclosing your payment for the processing fee, make sure to only send a money order or certified check. Personal or business checks will not be recognized. Only the subject for investigation can make a request from FBI for the background check or if you’re an employer show the letter of consent.
