Background • Brown, Copeland, Costello, Erkanli and Worthman (2009) found that “…prioritizing educational goals and maintaining achievement motivation are critical components of education attainment (and may be especially important where ecological scaffolding is relatively weak)” (p. 797). • Milford just obtained the program; no one knows how to use it. • Change in how to apply to college- all online. • No chance to get into classrooms; previous failure with November roll-out

  3. Goals • To register at least 60% of the Junior class for Naviance by April. • To educate students on the many functions of Naviance to prepare them for summer research.

  4. Program Layout • 3 sessions on different topics; these would be repeated upon request • “Registering and Research on Naviance” • “Registering for Naviance/College Applications” • “Registering for Naviance/Financial Aid”

  5. Results January 10 • 160 / 462 have registered • 104/160 had only logged in once • 55 /160 had been on site more than once • 12/160 had been on it more than five times. • 312 total visits 1.95 visits per registered user.

  6. February 28 • 225 / 462 students registered for Naviance. • 111 /225 students had only use the system once. • 110/225 had logged in more than once. • 25/462 had logged in more than five times • 487 total visits 2.16 visits per registered user

  7. April 6 • 251/468 had registered for the program. • 116/251 had only used the program once • 135/251 had logged in more than once • 35/251 had logged in more than five times. • 796 total visits 3.17 visits per registered user.
