  1. Microsoft Word-A Tutorial for Creating a Flyer

  2. Task 1: Log onto RISD computer. • Enter username and password into Novell screen. • Click “ok” and wait for desktop to load. • When desktop loads, open Microsoft Word using the icon provided on the desktop.

  3. Task 2: Create new flyer about the math club with basic information. • To create a new document, choose Microsoft Icon, then Newfrom the menu. • A pop-up box appears with two available types of reports. - Blank- New Blog Post. • Single-click Blank and then click “OK.”

  4. Text Placement: • Center the cursor on the screen using the icons at the top above the word “paragraph.” Choose the 2nd type of center options.

  5. Create a flyer about the math club meeting on Thursday at 1:00 in Room 302. Each piece of information should be on a different line. • Begin typing the Math club meeting title “Math Rocks” on first line. Click “Enter” and type day information, time information, and room information on separate lines, all centered and single spaced

  6. Font Change • Change font of “Math Rocks” to Arial Black by highlighting the title with the mouse and click in the font drop down menu that currently says “Times New Roman” and change it to “Arial”

  7. Task 3: Add picture to the bottom portion of the flyer • Single-click the insert menu on the toolbar. • Single click on the 4 small pictures that say “clip art”. • A small window appears on the right side.

  8. Searching for a Picture • 4. Single-click in the box under the words “search for”. • 5. Search for the word “meeting” by typing it in the box. • 6. Click “Go”

  9. Complete Image Insertion • Click on the picture of the people sitting around a table. (Top left picture) • When the picture inserts onto the document, hold down the mouse on the picture and drag it to the bottom portion of the document under the words Room “302”

  10. Closing the Clip Art Menu • 9. Single click the “x” on the top right corner of the clip art window to close it.

  11. Changing Font Size • Highlight all text and change font number to 14 by single clicking in the number drop down area beside the Font drop down box. • When you are done changing font, single click Microsoft Windows icon menu.

  12. Saving Final Work • When icon opens, clicks “Save As.” • Click in the file name box and name the file “Math Flyer” • Click “Save.”

  13. Task 4: Re-open the document to check for changes and print • 1. Check that all words ware spelled correctly • 2. Change the room number to 203. • 3. When all words are correct, single click the Microsoft icon again to save.

  14. Save and Print • Single click the “Save” button. • Single click the Microsoft icon again and single click the word “Print” • Click the word “Print” again • Click the word “Ok”
