  3. Fluencies that make up the Digital Citizen

  4. Solution Fluency • The ability to think creatively in real time • Involves whole brain thinking • The core of just in time learning Students solving problems on Smartboards

  5. Information Fluency • The ability to access digital information sources • The ability to effectively assess the information that is retrieved Students doing research work using laptops and wireless connections

  6. Collaboration Fluency • The ability to work cooperatively with virtual and real partners in an online environment • Involves interacting with people from all over the world with wireless communication technology Students collaborating on a project and sharing files with wireless technology

  7. Creativity Fluency • Is the process by which artistic proficiency adds meaning through design, art, and storytelling • Regards form in addition to function and the principles of innovative design • Extends beyond visual creative skills to using the imagination to create stories Th Students take photos with digital cameras and use the design in online presentations.

  8. Media Fluency • The ability to look analytically at any communication media to interpret the real message and determine how the media is being used to shape thinking • The ability to create and publish original digital products and determine the most appropriate and effective media for each message Student using iPad to research and communicate with peers

  9. The Digital Citizen • The 21st century fluencies are learned within the context of the digital citizen • There is a need to teach students that their online personality should be consistent with who they are in person
