  1. South Indian cuisine - what’s not to love? The varied textures, diversity of flavors and harmony of a multitude of ingredients, are a recipe to the perfect meal south Indian meal. You may think I’m overselling it but there’s something so distinctively versatile about south Indian food that words just don’t do justice to it. There’s something that is specifically unique to most meals that hail from the southern states. Some of the similarities are the presence of a staple - usually rice, dosas or parottas in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

  2. In Karnataka, people also consume Ragi, Bajra or Sorghum, all of which are healthier alternatives. In the state of Telangana, Jowar and Pearl Millets are commonly eaten choices of grain. Another trait that ties these cuisines is the use of lentils, legumes and spices. With ingredients that range from dried red chilies, fresh green chilies, coconut, tamarind and squash plant vegetables, there’s a lot more that in common to food from this region. Even though there’s much in common, the level of spice and the choice of staple is usually the only differentiating factor.

  3. Even within these states, there are so many regional specialties that have now become a part of their identity. Whether it’s the Chettinad cuisine hailing from Tamil Nadu or the Dum style Biryani from Andhra Pradesh, there’s a wide assortment of delicacies when it comes to the food in the southern part of India. I, for one, have a natural affinity towards south Indian food and find a dearth of good south Indian restaurants in USA.

  4. One of the very few south Indian catering services in USA you can always count on to give you a delectable meal is Dharani. They put together quite the lavish spread from all across south India. That too for a country like USA to have a south Indian menu that is on point, is a rare occurrence. They also have a chain of south Indian restaurants in New York, Morrisville, Albany, Woburn and Westborough. Again, the food is to die for! They serve regional favorites too which makes them stand out from the stereotypical restaurants that have recently made an appearance in USA.

  5. You can tell that the menu is designed to suit the palate of anyone who comes to the restaurant. It’s that place where there’s something for everyone. No matter your preference of flavors or texture, they have all that it takes to satisfy your tastebuds!
