  13. Tide Differences The next segment of our Tidal unit calls for a comparison study of the tides in the Bay of Fundy & the Atlantic Coast.

  14. Tides- Differences • Visit the Fisheries and Oceans Website (http://www.lau.chs-shc.gc.ca/english/Canada.shtml) • Search the Atlantic Area • Choose two locations (one in the Bay of Fundy and one on the Atlantic Ocean) • Using the predicted hourly heights, add the data for each area into an Excel file. • Graph the two areas using a line graph • Submit the graph into the class inbox

  15. Tide- Differences • Visit the wesbite http://www.gma.org/undersea_landscapes/Bay_of_Fundy/ and click on the “Related Information” section to view a video on tidal fall and rise in the Bay of Fundy.

  16. Tide- Causes • Write a response on the class blog about: • The differences you found between the two areas that you graphed. • Predict what tide heights would be like in Hudson Bay and post on the website. • Add the predicted hourly heights from an area in the Hudson Bay to your Excel file and create a new graph. • Submit the new graph into your class inbox. • Please refer to rubric for assessment information and specific criteria

  17. Tides- Erosion The next segment of our Tidal unit calls for a comparison study of the tidal effects on the shores of the Minas Basin.

  18. Tides- Erosion • Work through and complete the attached lab on Waves and Beaches. • Hand-in the completed lab activity to your teacher.

  19. Tides- Erosion • In partners, develop a Photo Story using results of tides on the shorelines, rivers, brooks and deltas leading to the Minas Basin. Be sure to include narration using Audacity. • You will go on class trip to various stops along the Basin. Along the way, you will use digital cameras to document changes and highlights notable influences of the tides along the shorelines. • You may also wish to have family or friends accompany you on similar ventures after hours to further document your findings.
