  3. The Effects of Car Pollution • Cars are the greatest contributing cause of pollution in many cities across the world. Emissions from car exhaust contain a variety of toxic substances. Many pollutants produce harmful effects on the blood and the coronary system. Benzene, one of the pollutants release from car exhausts, have been linked to leukemia. Also, it can lower your body’s immunity, thus affecting the body’s defense against tumors. Lead, another one of the pollutants released by cars, interferes with the normal formation of red blood cells by holding back important enzymes. Exposure to lead can as well lead to behavioral changes and can damage mental function , causing problems with learning and memory. Furthermore, car emissions are responsible for the formation of acid rain, which causes lakes and streams to be acidic.

  4. CAR POLLUTION STATISTICS • Thirty thousand people in the United States die each year from conditions that are caused by car pollution. • The amount of pollution that is released by from cars is much more than the amount of pollution released by a power plant. • Seventy-two percent of nitrogen oxides and fifty-two percent of hydrocarbons, which is a element of smog, are released through cars. • Car pollutions have various effects, including environmental and physical. For example, acid rain, smog, lung cancer and respiratory problems. • SUV’s release 28-gallons of carbon dioxide into the air for every gallon of gasoline the owner use.

  5. DIFFERENT TYPES OF CAR POLLUTION • Car pollution affects the environment in many diverse ways. Starting with noise pollution to air pollution to water pollution, car pollution impacts the environment on a very large scale. • Noise pollution is the disturbance caused by blaring horns, supersonic jets, firecrackers, music at high volume and gunshots. This I causing problems, such as irritation, high blood pressure, and sleep disturbances, especially to small children and the elderly. • Air pollution is the consequence of burning fossil fuels. The burning of fossil fuels releases a great quantity of smoke and many harmful chemicals into the air. These gases and particulate matter can cause problems for instance, breathing trouble, asthma, rhinitis etc.. • Water pollution is the release of harmful chemicals and toxins into water bodies. There are four different types of water pollution, Toxic substance, Organic substance, Thermal pollution, and Ecological pollution. Water pollution can be caused by leaks of oil and antifreeze from a car on a driveway, that can be washed off by rain leading it into nearby waterways, therefore, polluting it.

  6. PREVENTION OF CAR POLLUTION • There are many ways we can prevent car pollution, some simpler than others but require a major change in our lives. One change we can do that won’t have a major impact on our lives is switching from gas cars to hybrid cars. Hybrid cars use less gas and are more environmental friendly. Another way you can reduce car pollution is by riding our bikes, skateboards, or walking to our destination. This way we will also decrease the number of obese people. However, if you live far from your destination than you will be better off with the hybrid car.

  7. FACTS ABOUT CAR POLLUTION • Car pollution releases 51% carbon monoxide in the air, which is very dangerous and deadly. • It releases volatile organic compounds, in which creates a smog that affects the plants and also a human respiration system. • In addition, carbon dioxide, if emitted in high concentrations can bring about global warming. • Car exhaust particulates cause additional clouds to form in the atmosphere, but not as much rain. • Cars add a great deal of runoff’s, such as oil, gasoline, dirt, and brake dust.
