College/University/Technical Schools • 4 year colleges • UW-system 2 and 4 year campuses • Private Colleges & Universities • Univ. of Minn-Reciprocity(deadlines apply) • http://www.heab.wi.gov (apply for Minn.-Wis. Tuition) • Wis. Technical Colleges/NWTC/Fox Valley • Other/Welding/Cosmetologists/animal care etc…..

  3. College Visits • Make an appointment to tour the campus • Make a list of questions • Major/area of interest to study • Visit while school is in session • Picture yourself at this campus • Location and costs • Housing and meal plans • Your personal interests

Application Process • Fill out forms ONLINE completely/accurately • Fill out ½ sheet Yellow Transcript Request Form • On-Line registration-Preferred method • Copy of Personal Profile Sheet/Resume • Write a thoughtful, meaningful, well written personal statement-edit-rewrite-edit-rewrite--- • Letters of Recommendation 2-3 (request from your teachers) • Provide copy of profile sheet to teachers for letters of recommendation • Allow 7 -10 days for staff to write letters

Application process cont…. • Online application preferred • WI UW system colleges: apply.wisconsin.edu or uwhelp.wisconsin.edu • WI tech colleges: www.witechcolleges.org. • Private colleges refer to their website • Complete all areas of the application forms • Pay via credit card or include personal check or money order with application • Submit electronically and complete transcript request form in the SS office

Submitting forms to Student Services • Include: • Letters of recommendations (2-3) allow 7-10 days to write • Student profile or resume-or attach electronically • Personal Statement or Essay-or attach electronically • Other documentation requested • Turn all forms/letters/etc. to the SS secretary • Provide stamps and envelope for mailing within 2-3 days or school mail will be sent within one week. • Turn everything in together-not one thing at a time-will not accept • ACT scores-colleges need a copy-check your transcript • Complete a YELLOW Transcript Request form-name of college(s)-on counter in Student Services office

  8. UW Colleges will maintain its long-held reputation as the UW System's most affordable choice for incoming students who can then complete their baccalaureate degree at any four-year UW campus. The tuition at UW Colleges is approx. $5000.00 per year. • UW-Fond du Lac • A park-like campus surrounds a two-acre lake. UW-Fond du Lac has an enrollment of 760 students. Map it! • UW-Fox Valley • Located in Menasha UW-Fox Valley is a 41-acre contemporary campus enrolling over 1700 students. Map it! • UW-Manitowoc • UW-Manitowoc is a 40-acre campus located on the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan with 600 students enrolled. Map it! • UW-Marathon County • UW-Marathon County, located in Wausau, is adjacent to 78-acre Marathon Park and has an average enrollment of 1000. • UW-Marinette • Located on 36 acres along the shores of Lake Michigan's Green Bay UW-Marinette enrolls 460 students.

Accuplacer Test • Test required to register at WI Tech. schools • See Mrs. Bossell in the Career Center • Test done on the computer • Approx. 2-3 periods to complete • Can complete over 2 days if requested • No cost to student • NWTC also offers the TABE for $20.00 for all students • Results available immediately • Make appt. w/ NTWC counselor to determine program requirements

  16. Military opportunities • ASVAB-stands for Armed Forces Vocational Battery, a multi-aptitude test battery taken by juniors and seniors in HS. The battery consists of 10 short individual tests, which cover: • 1. Word knowledge • 2. Paragraph Comprehension • 3. Arithmetic Reasoning • 4. Mathematics Knowledge • 5. General Science • 6. Auto and Shop Information • 7. Mechanical Comprehension • 8. Electronics Information • 9. Numerical Operations • 10. Coding Speed • The ASVAB is a good reflection on how well you have developed your academic occupational abilities. • The ASVAB is free and will be given on Oct. 21thth @ 7:30 am here at Preble. Sign up will be approx. 1-2 weeks before the test date.
